Why is the blossoming so important?

Time around blossoming of the vines is very delicate. We winemakers have to control our vineyards nearly around the clock. The danger of oidium (powdery mildew) is very high at the moment, because this disease likes warm nights with high humidity. The weather influences the blossoming too, cold days or heavy rain could lead to couluring - not fertilized parts or even already fertilized parts of the blossom get rejected.

The rule of 100 days

100 days after blossoming the harvest starts. That's the rule - and it's true every year! One week before, or after this period at most we start harvesting. So now we plan the work for cellar and vineyard, go on holiday and prewarn our diligent hands for the harvest.
