During harvesting winemakers have very very much to do and sometimes work nearly all around the clock. But what is happening in a wine-estate during the harvest? We give you a personal overview:

While it's pretty busy in the cellar, she is calm and on focus. Uli prepares the orders from the online-shop and answers mails and calls. She is here for visitors who want to have a close look and smell at the harvest. Maybe we are already tired and moody, but she lifts our spirits with hearty lunches and fragrant cakes.

During harvest it can be hectic and tiring. This needs overview and experience and that's where Hans fits in perfectly. He plans every step! When do we harvest which vineyard, in which tank comes which must and what experiments would be interesting this year? He also notes everything down to be prepared for the next year, because during harvest we have to work fast and the exhaustion increases every day. At this time each hint from the years before is very welcome!

With a refractometer we analyse the sugar content of our grapes. Eugen checks every vineyard for sugar and health. With these parameters we can plan the next steps of the harvest. During this time we really need our tractors. Eugen keeps an eye on them and repairs small damages. While driving with a full load of grapes he needs steady hands, because the cartload is valuable, huge and heavy. He is also the master of the pumps and fills up our stainless steel tanks from the company Böck, which is also situated in the Weinviertel.

Marie-Theres

When the grapes are checked and harvested they come into the press, that is Marie-Theres's field! Our two presses are filled, cleaned and maintained by her. After a pressing cycle sometimes the grapes still hold too much liquid inside, so she has to check every press before emptying. Our presses are made in the Weinviertel by Wottle! At the end of a long day Marie-Theres calls for a last-press-of-the-day-beer.

Our feel good employee bears the most important task during harvesting. He keeps Uli during office work on the go and calms every other person with cuddles. (yes the pretty boy wants his back scrubbed, even if human is dog-tired)
