Vivid life
The vines are growing vigorously towards the sky. Therefore a lot happens in the vineyards during the summer. The blossoming is already behind us. The heat and drought are beginning to be a problem for even the deep-rooted vines. Vegetation is progressing five days ahead of average (source: Hagelversicherung). The hot days also change the rhythm of our vineyard work. Our workdays sometimes start as early as 4 a.m. But the first birdsong and a sunrise are a wonderful reward! Fawns, turtle doves & more
The vineyards also serve as nurseries for some wild animals. Birds prefer the dense growth of Grüner Veltliner vines for their nests. Fawns are left to rest by their mothers in the vines's shades. In the Ried Kreimelberg turtle doves court for hours every day. Particularly encouraging: hoopoes are seen more than ever!
